EducationUSA University Fairs in Kosovo: Connecting Students with U.S. Higher Education Opportunities
Since 2016, the American Advising Center – EducationUSA Kosovo, in collaboration with the EducationUSA Network and the U.S. Embassy in Pristina, has proudly organized the EducationUSA University Fair. This annual event has become a key platform for students, scholars, educators, and parents across Kosovo, offering direct access to representatives from accredited U.S. colleges and universities.
Over the years, the fair has welcomed a wide range of prestigious institutions. Universities such as New York University Abu Dhabi, Michigan State University, The University of Texas at Austin School of Law, Northern Illinois University, Minerva Schools at KGI, Pepperdine School of Public Policy, University of Colorado Boulder, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Valparaiso University, Rochester Institute of Technology, and many more have participated, showcasing their academic programs and scholarship opportunities.
Held both in-person and virtually, the fair provides students with the chance to engage directly with admissions representatives, learn about diverse academic offerings, scholarship opportunities, admissions requirements, and gain valuable insights into the U.S. higher education system. Distinguished guests, including Kosovo’s Deputy Ministers of Education and the U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, have also attended, highlighting the event’s significance in fostering educational ties between Kosovo and the United States.
With thousands of participants over the years, the EducationUSA University Fair continues to be an invaluable event for students in Kosovo exploring opportunities to study in the United States.
Looking ahead, the EducationUSA Southeastern Europe University Tour will continue during the 2025-2026 academic year, May 2025, offering even more opportunities for students to connect with U.S. institutions. The first USA Alumni Fair Kosovo was organized during the International Education Week (IEW) by the EducationUSA Ad-vising Center in Kosovo, on November 19, 2015. Overall, there were 39 American and Kosovar alumni from different U.S. Colleges and Universities, also U.S.Embassy representatives and Peace Corps volunteers. The universities that participated in the USA Alumni Fair Kosovo are: John Hopkins University, University of North Carolina, Yale University, Appalachian State University, Emory University, Loyola University & New School for Social Research, Saint John’s University, The Illinois Institute of Art & Roosevelt University, Iowa State University, University of Washington – “Evans School of Public Policy and Governance”, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Montana State University , Rollins College, University of Wisconsin -Milwaukee, Saint Cloud State University, Howard University, James Madison University , University of Arkansas, Marquette University, Augustana University, Northern Illinois University, Texas State University, Wagner College, Tulane University & University of West Florida, University of Oklahoma, University of Richmond, University of California – Berkeley, Westmin-ster College, Florida Atlantic University, Texas Tech University, Penn State, Anglo-American University – Prague, American University in Bulgaria, American University in Kosovo, American School of Kosova, American College of Thessaloniki, East-ern Mediterranean University, US Embassy in Pristina – Public Affairs Office – Educational Programs, American Councils for International Education – Kosovo -KAEF and YES.
Overall, there were 425 student visitors from different municipalities of Kosovo.
The second annual, USA Alumni Fair Kosovo was also organized during the International Education Week (IEW) by the EducationUSA Advising Center in Kosovo, on November 17th, 2016. There were 34 American and Kosovar alumni representatives from different U.S. Colleges and Universities, also U.S.Embassy representatives and Peace Corps volunteers. Overall, there were 584 student visitors from 25 different municipalities of Kosovo.
The third annual, USA Alumni Fair Kosovo was also organized during the International Education Week (IEW) by the EducationUSA Advising Center in Kosovo, on November 16th, 2017. There were 30 American and Kosovar alumni representatives from different U.S. Colleges and Universities, also U.S.Embassy representatives and Peace Corps volunteers. The fourth annual, USA Alumni Fair Kosovo was also organized during the International Education Week (IEW) by the EducationUSA Advising Center in Kosovo, on November 15th, 2018. There were 25 American and Kosovar alumni representatives from different U.S. Colleges and Universities, also U.S.Embassy representatives and Peace Corps volunteers. The fifth annual, USA Alumni Fair Kosovo was also organized during the International Education Week (IEW) by the EducationUSA Advising Center in Kosovo, on November 22th, 2019. There were 20 American and Kosovar alumni representatives from different U.S. Colleges and Universities, also U.S.Embassy representatives and Peace Corps volunteers. The universities that participated in the USA Alumni Fair Kosovo are Public Affairs Office U.S. Embassy in Pristina, Consular Section U.S. Embassy in Pristina, Georgia State University, Wartburg College, Arizona State University, Miami University, UNC Chapel Hill, USAID TLP, University of Iowa, College of Law, University of Rochester, NY, RIT Kosovo (A.U.K), University of Washington – Seattle, Florida Gulf Coast University, University of Washington.
Overall, there were 289 student visitors from different municipalities of Kosovo.
USA Alumni Talk – Inspiring Journeys, Empowering Futures
The USA Alumni Talk, organized annually by the American Advising Center – EducationUSA Kosovo (AAC – EdUSA Kosovo) in collaboration with the EducationUSA Network and the U.S. Embassy in Pristina, is a flagship event held during International Education Week. This dynamic platform connects aspiring students from Kosovo with U.S. alumni who share their personal and academic experiences from studying in the United States.
The event features panels of distinguished alumni, many of whom are part of the AAC – EdUSA Kosovo community, who discuss their academic journeys, cultural adjustments, scholarship opportunities, and the challenges and triumphs they encountered while pursuing higher education in the U.S. Moderated by AAC – EdUSA Kosovo advisers, the sessions are interactive, allowing students to engage directly with the alumni, ask questions, and gain practical insights into navigating the U.S. college admissions process.
Highlights from USA Alumni Talk Over the Years:
– 2020 (Virtual Event): The inaugural USA Alumni Talk featured Dea Sarqini, Nart Shalqini, and Tringa Krasniqi, attracting 81 participants eager to learn about studying in the U.S. despite the virtual format due to global restrictions.
– 2021 (Virtual Event): Focused on alumni from the College Prep Club at AAC, including Drin Krasniqi (Harvard University), Dielle Duga (University of Pennsylvania), Artur Vllahiu (University of Pennsylvania), and Elisa Coker (University of North Alabama). Their insights inspired 59 attendees, highlighting pathways to prestigious U.S. universities through full scholarships.
– 2022 (Virtual Event): Featured Kelsey De Rinaldis (University of Denver), Elta Bajrami (Vassar College), and Kylie Henry (George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs). This session attracted 100 participants, emphasizing global affairs and liberal arts education.
– 2023 (Virtual Event): Showcased alumni such as Natyra Agani (Clemson University), Catherine Crouch (Bowdoin College), Ornis Mala (Lake Forest College), and Andi Bytyqi (University of Central Oklahoma), with 53 attendees engaging in thoughtful discussions about diverse academic paths and student life in the U.S.
– 2024 (In-Person/Virtual Hybrid): Marked a return to in-person interactions alongside virtual participation, featuring Spencer Olm (University of Iowa), Drilon Qerimini (Grinnell College), and Era Thaqi(Princeton University). This session highlighted experiences from liberal arts colleges and large public universities, offering valuable perspectives on academic diversity in the U.S.
